The Old Vic has been a landmark theatre in London for nearly 200 years, and has played host to some of the finest theatrical talent in history, including Richard Burton, John Gielgud, Laurence Olivier, and Judi Dench. In its dazzling history, The Old Vic has staged not only epic theatrical productions, but also dance, musical extravaganzas, vaudeville and spectacle. This diverse heritage serves as great inspiration for our new Artistic Director Matthew Warchus going forward, as he plans to treat our audiences to more varied seasons with more productions than ever before, including a large percentage of new work alongside ground-breaking adaptations of classics.
Forming strong alliances with businesses is critical for us as we are a fully independent theatre and registered charity receiving no regular public subsidy. We work closely with our partners in a highly bespoke way to satisfy their event requirements. Our 197 year old Grade II* listed building offers the perfect environment for sophisticated, elegant and memorable entertaining experiences, from stunning dinners on The Old Vic stage joined by the cast after a performance, to pre-show receptions in the historic Rehearsal Room with a welcome from a member of the creative team, to bespoke backstage events that take your guests behind the velvet curtain.
